Our science
An insert & forget solution exploiting the untapped potential of the nasal route to reduce patient exposure and improve adherence to treatment.
In collaboration with our team of clinical, academic and industrial partner experts, we have developed the DIAXX platform, an intranasal insert for sustained release of active substances. This drug delivery platform, allowing local, systemic or nose-to-brain administration, aims to improve the treatment plan for chronic diseases.
The untapped potential of the intranasal route
The intranasal route allows rapid absorption of drugs through the highly vascularized nasal mucosa while bypassing hepatic first-pass metabolism, thereby improving bioavailability.
This route is used for both local treatments (e.g., allergies, rhinitis) and systemic delivery (analgesics, hormones, vaccines), and is increasingly explored for biomolecules and direct nose-to-brain therapies.
Research focuses on liquid and semi-solid formulations like mucoadhesive systems and nanoparticles hardly compatible with long-term sustained release (retention time of a few weeks maximum).
Dianosic has a unique positioning with a solid polymeric nasal insert delivering constant API doses over extended periods (up to 12 months), easily placed and removed by healthcare professionals.
A patient-centered platform created to radically transform the management of chronic diseases
Our platform delivers patient-centered solutions of “insert & forget” type, maximizing patient quality of life and addressing physicians’ needs in terms of efficacy, safety, and ease of use.
TARGETED, LOW-DOSE DELIVERY
- Unique bioresorbable scaffold architecture designed to deliver an optimal low-dose, targeted drug treatment, in a controlled and stable manner.
IN-OFFICE PROCEDURE
- In-office placement under local anesthesia — generating significant savings for the healthcare system.
100% TREATMENT ADHERENCE
- 100% treatment adherence (vs. ~15% for nasal sprays in rhinitis) thanks to our “insert & forget” approach.
A proprietary drug-delivery platform built on three pillars
Hybrid innovation for controlled release · Therapeutic versatility · High loading capacity · Long-lasting delivery · Improved tolerability.
Tailored pharmaceutical form
- Each DIAXX formulation is a unique combination of API and resorbable polymer, designed to deliver a sustained and controlled dose, whether for local, systemic, or nose-to-brain drug delivery.
- The solid insert can incorporate milligram quantities of API, enabling drug release for up to 12 months thanks to an optimized formulation. Direct and prolonged contact with the mucosa helps overcome the rapid clearance limitations associated with nasal sprays, while the biocompatible polymer matrix enhances local tolerance and minimizes mucosal irritation.
Proprietary scaffold design
- DIAXX platform is shaped for tolerability and flexibility. Mesh structure prevents mucus buildup, reducing the risk of local infection. Edge-free design ensures patient comfort at insertion and removal, preserving mucosa integrity over the treatment period.
- DIAXX features allow various positioning in the nasal cavity: in the turbinates region for local delivery, in the olfactory region for nose-to-brain delivery.
Minimally invasive procedure
- An ENT specialist places the intranasal insert during a quick, in-office procedure lasting under 30 minutes with local anesthesia. The insert is removed in the same setting, and its placement is checked using nasal endoscopy.
WHY DIAXX IS DIFFERENT
DIAXX was created to treat chronic respiratory diseases (DIA01-R, DIA02-S) and central nervous system disorders (DIA03-NTB) radically differentiating itself from existing solutions through long-acting controlled release, targeted low-dose delivery, and minimally invasive deployment.
A platform with broader therapeutic potential
Beyond our current programs, the DIAXX platform offers extension opportunities to address other unmet medical needs including otology (sudden hearing loss), facial pain, chronic migraine and chronic inflammation. Our cutting-edge biomaterials expertise and formulation know-how enable adaptation to a wide range of drugs and diseases.
